Water My Plot Project
In 2024 the BAA was given a grant by the Council towards a project to promote more sustainable growing practices, over three-year period. The project focuses on reducing use of mains water by rain and spring water harvesting, regenerative growing techniques and increasing biodiversity on our sites.
Water Capture Initiatives
Our priority for Year 1 was to increase rain water harvesting across the sites by distributing affordable water butts and instigating small communal projects.
For 2025, our priorities for Year 2 are to continue to increase water harvesting capacity and to complete a number of communal installations, as well continuing our popular program of talks and demonstrations. The Association is considering ways of improving take-up of hard to let plots and vacant areas of sites. We also want to improve access to food growing for people with disabilities. The Year 2 bid is currently in preparation.
