Microplots
Under the conditions of the Water My Plot Year 1 grant, the Association was required to increase access for more people on the waiting lists. We have done this by setting up microplots, with the aim of introducing people on the waiting lists to an early growing experience.
We now have microplots on Claremont, Lower Common East and West, and Monksdale.

An information letter describing what microplots are and how they work is available HERE.

A Microplot holder on LCW made this comment recently:

" Having a Microplot this year has been brilliant! It has given me the
opportunity to start allotment growing on a smaller scale, which was a lot
more manageable (and less overwhelming) than taking on a full plot right
from the start. I’ve been able to appreciate the time commitment,
responsibility and work involved in maintaining an allotment, meaning I feel
a lot more prepared for when I get to the top of the waiting list! Having
Tim as a mentor has been great too, he is always around for advice (or just
a chat) when I bump into him on the allotment.
Everything I’ve grown this year has been a bit of an experiment. Not
everything was successful- I don’t consider anything a failure (especially
in the very challenging weather this summer!), but there are definitely
things I will take away and do differently next year.
I’ve really enjoyed myself this year, just being on the plot has been a very
relaxing way to decompress after a stressful day, and it is very satisfying
eating a dinner which I have grown myself! Overall it’s been a really good
start to what will hopefully be many years of allotment growing 😀"
