Biodiversity Community

The Association is encouraging a greater recognition of the rich biodiversity to be found on our allotment sites, which often exceeds areas such as parks, countryside or farmland. For information on Bioblitz assessment of biodiversity on sites see the link below.

Who we are

We are a small group of keen allotmenteers and gardeners that want to encourage and increase the number and diversity of insects, birds, animals, and fauna in the Bath area.

Last year we held several working parties, one in particular lead by a representative from Froglife, where we installed ponds, bug hotels and a hibernaculum at Bloomfield allotments.

We also undertook a bird count which will be repeated several times this year to baseline the birds in the area, and we are looking to undertake some surveys on what is living on our allotments and in our gardens to get a good idea of what we can focus on.

This year we are looking to install more ponds across several allotments sites in Bath, build bird boxes, survey wildlife and grasses in the local area, and generally encourage people to be aware of the biodiversity in their backyards and what they can do to encourage it.
